Kids with a mission at FUMC!
"Teaching kids to care for people beyond their backyard is one more way to teach our children to love God." Jan Johnson from Growing Compassionate Kids.
What child doesn’t love a good contest and support a great cause?? We support RIFA’s snack backpack program by our boys bringing mac-n-cheese and our girls bringing oatmeal. Did you know that during the school year, RIFA helps feed nearly 300 children each and every week?? I’m glad to call us a supporter of their snack backpack program!!
We also support Operation Hope a before and after school ministry to children right here in Jackson. All the money that is given to the giving tree in the children’s area goes toward Operation Hope. Recently our 4th grade Sunday School class visited Operation Hope and delivered sports equipment purchased with money they raised.
During the Christmas season, children’s ministry will adopt a mission focus. For the past several years we have provided gifts for the Dream Center in our community.
The Kids Who Care Club (KWCC) is a service club for 4th and 5th graders. We meet monthly on a Sunday night to plan and implement our projects. Recently our KWCC collected used eyeglasses to be used in developing countries. We also prepared over 300 health kits for the earthquake victims in Haiti.
Kids really do love helping others!
